Lineage
That lineage connects today's H.O.G.D. with an august assembly of past members but this is a living tradition, too; sustained, enlivened and its wealth of knowledge expanded upon, by its current members, singly and as a group.
We have chosen to present The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn® (H.O.G.D.) in website form to assist in connecting those of like mind, and to shine the light a little further to those seeking guidance on the path, primarily living in Britain and Europe.
Philosophy
The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn® draws from several philosophies: Kabbalah, ancient Egyptian, Samothracian, meditation, astrology, and tarot to name a few. As the student progresses, so the learning deepens to build an increasingly more comprehensive inner dictionary, with which to negotiate his or her journey. The intellectual process goes hand in hand with a process of spiritual alchemy – to ‘know Thyself’ – arguably more important than committing information to memory, for it only when you understand how something relates to you and your world, that it becomes truly valuable. The result is a greater degree of self-knowledge and freedom from whatever blocks may lie within, unseen. Seeking membership is one way in which you are able to take a more formal step, along the spiritual path.
